Itinerary Breakdown
Day 1: Bandaranaike International Airport → Sigiriya
Begin your journey with an arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, followed by a scenic drive to Sigiriya. En route, stop at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage to witness rescued elephants, including baby elephants being fed. After checking in at your Sigiriya hotel, explore the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO-listed site with stunning panoramic views. Spend the evening unwinding at the hotel or opt for a cultural performance or village tour.
Overnight stay: Sigiriya
Day 2: Sigiriya → Dambulla → Kandy
Start the day with a visit to the Dambulla Cave Temple, famous for its ancient Buddhist murals and statues. Then, embark on a drive to Kandy, stopping at a spice garden in Matale to learn about Sri Lanka’s aromatic spices. In Kandy, explore Kandy Lake, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, and enjoy a mesmerizing Kandyan cultural dance performance in the evening.
Overnight stay: Kandy
Day 3: Kandy → Colombo
After breakfast, stroll through the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, home to a vast collection of exotic plants and orchids. Then, enjoy a scenic drive back to Colombo. If time permits, take a quick city tour of Colombo’s landmarks before heading to the airport for your departure.
